ViewSonic ViewPad 7x and dual-boot 10Pro confirmed

ViewSonic has refreshed its Android tablet range, with the new 7-inch ViewPad 7x offering Honeycomb on a 1024 x 600 touchscreen, while the 10.1-inch ViewPad 10Pro gives a choice of Froyo or Windows 7 on an Intel Oak Trail Atom processor. The ViewPad 7x – which leaked earlier this month – has a Tegra 2 processor and twin cameras, along with along with HSPA+, HDMI and DLNA support.

It weighs 380g and has a microUSB port and an LED flash. As for the ViewPad 10Pro, that has a 1.5GHz Intel Oak Trail Z670 processor along with WiFi, 3G, Bluetooth and all the usual features you’d expect from an x86 tablet.
Unfortunately ViewSonic’s decision to go with Android 2.2 rather than Honeycomb looks likely to hurt the 10Pro’s reputation. No word on pricing or release dates at this stage.

Viewsonic 7x puts Honeycomb on a Tegra 2 7-incher

Viewsonic’s Android tablets attempts haven’t quite hit the mark yet, but the company is readying a new Android Honeycomb model that could well change all that. The Viewsonic 7x is, Pocket-lint has heard, headed to Computex 2011 at the tail-end of this month, with a 7-inch touchscreen as the name suggests.

Like other Honeycomb tablets we’ve seen, it’ll pack NVIDIA’s 1GHz dual-core Tegra 2 processor, twin cameras – front and back, though no word on how many megapixels yet – and integrated HSPA+ WWAN. There’s also the somewhat mysterious “greater support on the connectivity front” which we’re assuming means WiFi, Bluetooth and USB along with the HDMI port, at the very least.
DLNA and a distinctive patterned back panel round out the key specs of this 380g slate, which is expected to hit retail in June 2011. No word on pricing at this stage.

ViewSonic ViewPad 10 Finally Gets 2.2, Making Dual-Boot Worthwhile

On paper, the ViewPad 10 was a really cool device, bringing dual-booting to those people that needed (or just wanted) both some Android and some Windows 7 features. It was like a software peanut butter and jelly sandwich. In practice, the problem came with the fact that the tablet came with Android 1.6, an outdated version of the software that was lacking some pretty big features. Well, anyone toting the ViewPad will be happy to know that the tablet will be receiving an update to 2.2, making that Android boot a lot more useful. The downside here is that in order to install the update, you need to upload it to a thumb drive and then plug in that thumb drive and a USB keyboard into the tablet. But that’s a small challenge for a big upgrade, right? Full press release after the break.
