Remember back a million years ago, aka January of this year, when we did an odd review of some Samsung commercials advertising a device that looked awfully similar to an iPod Touch? Turns out that product is FINALLY nearly ready to be sold in the USA, and by the looks of things, it’ll be coming to Amazon first. Also there’s certainly been more news on these little devices since those commercials, but not a whole heck of a lot on a release date – and that’s what matters most!
Amazon had the 4.0 version of this device up earlier today for a total cost of $229. Sound worth it to you? Let’s re-discuss some specs: it’s got a 1Ghz processor, 8GB of internal storage with a microSD card slot that’ll allow you to ad 32GB more, a 3.2 megapixel rear-facing camera, a VGA front-facing camera, Wifi b/g/n on the inside aside GPS, bluetooth, and Android 2.2 with Android Market access. Those of you that saw the device in the online store, thanks for the tips – did you purchase one? Are you now being offered refunds or something similar?
Once you get this device, you’ll be blasting forth with what’s essentially a Galaxy S phone without the phone part. No calling unless you can figure out how to turn the Wifi connection into a walky-talky or something similar. From there you’ll be able to play basically every media form an average person uses: MP3, WMA, Ogg, FLAC, AAC, AVI, MP4, 3GP, WMV, AST, MKV, and FLV, and of course the front-facing camera will facilitate video chat via Skype and Qik. Can you even wait? Once we’ve got a link back to the market for a working listing, (the original is now broken,) we’ll hook you up!
