Despite having had them for over a year, Android hasn’t really done much app-wise for its stable of tablets. Sure, you’ve got bigger versions of everything, but specialized apps from developers are few and far in-between, though admittedly this has been getting a bit better as of late. Well, those that have been looking for some good magazine reading can do so starting today…if you’ve got one of Verizon’s new wi-fi enabled Galaxy Tabs. This has been brought to pass through Next Issue Media, a consortium of of news companies who also have plans to bring the service to more tablets and operating systems in the future. This goes in hand with separate apps that individual members of the consortium have released for the iPad. The difference here is that Next Issue Media as a whole plans to give the same 70% profit from tablet revenue to its members that they would receive on the iPad, with the added bonus of being able to access subscriber credit card information and personal data. This latter bit is something that Apple does not allow. For the time being, seven magazines will be available upon the app’s release with more planned later on.
